When you cut a fresh pineapple, take the chance and smell it. Which smells can you identify?
Fresh and tropic flavors are dominant. But what about caramel, citrus, or the butter hints? Can you detect also something flowery?
If ingredients share similar flavor characteristics, they fit together really well. And these ingredients are a fantastic harmonious taste combination. Pineapple and mango or oranges and grapefruits fit together very well because of their flavors. Have you ever tried the combination of apples and pears – it’s a perfect match.
Today I have decided to do a pineapple and orange pairing. Which fit together perfectly, because their tangs are related to each other. And a little bit of ginger adds perfectly to them.
A pineapple – orange smoothie is unbelievably sweet, fruity, and refreshing.
Enjoy!
Recipe (about 1 liter):
1 pineapple ( peeled, cut in pieces. Which is 500-600g)
2 oranges
25g ginger
200ml camomile tea; 200ml water + camomile tea bags
100ml water
1 teaspoon agave syrup
Boil the water for the tea. Pour the water over the tea bags into a cup.
Let it steep for 3 minutes.
Take the bags out and put the tea aside, and let it cool down.
Peel the pineapple and cut it into pieces.
Cut the oranges in half and squeeze them out.
Rasp the ginger.
Put the camomile tea, orange juice, pineapple, ginger, and water into a higher vessel, and puree it with the blender (or with a high-performance mixer).
If you miss some sweetness, you can add a teaspoon of agave syrup (or more, to your own taste).
Ready to drink!
