It’s that time of the year again – we are already right in the middle of the advent season. And if you say advent and Christmas, you also have to say Punch.
But finding a Punch to buy that actually tastes good turns out to be quite hard. Most of them have this overly level of sweetness. Therefore I enjoy making my own Punch. Plus: Filled into nice bottles and decorated, it makes a lovely self-made Christmas gift or giveaway when invited to a Christmas dinner or a Christmas dinner.
This orange Punch works well as a shot in your cup of tea, giving it a little kick. Or just have it with some hot water in a cup. You can also enjoy it purely as a sweet liquid dessert after a lovely stuffy meal with your family or friends.
This Punch has an intense taste of oranges with a hint of Lemon accompanied by a soft breeze of cinnamon, vanilla, and cloves. And what else gives us that Christmas taste? Exactly: a little bit of rum ;-)!
Enjoy responsibly!
Recipe:
2 kg of oranges
1 kg lemons
470g sugar
1 pkg vanilla sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
10 cloves
500ml rum 38% vol
Squeeze out the oranges and the lemons.
Add sugar, vanilla sugar, cinnamon sticks, and cloves to the fresh-pressed juice in a pot and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer for five minutes.
Put the pot aside, remove cinnamon sticks and cloves and let (the orange-lemon juice) it cool off.
Put the syrup through a sieve and add the rum. Now you can add some more sugar or rum according to your personal taste.
Pour your orange punch into clean bottles and close them airtight.
Ready!
