Oh no! Halloween is coming 😉 . So I’d love to help out with a spooky recipe idea from my kitchen for your next Halloween Party.
These scary Toast Spiders are prepared really quick and are THE perfect party snack for big and small. Or you can make them as an appetizer for your Halloween menu. You only have to buy the ingredients and assemble them to get these creepy Halloween spiders. I’ve made 10 spiders and used 2 different spreads. I used a store-bought one and homemade guacamole. You can decide on your own if you do it like that, or only use storebought spread, and if you want to use 2 different spreads at all.
For the spiders’ eyes, I used some olives cut into slices. But you could also use some tomato paste.
And if someone is wondering where the fourth pair of legs has gone – well they’ve been eaten by some zombies 😉 .
If you don’t want to make the guacamole yourself at home, just buy some in a store – that makes the recipe even easier and quicker to make.
Hint: Don’t prepare them long in advance. The pretzel sticks will soften and eventually, the spider’s leg will fall off. So just make them shortly before serving.
Enjoy!
Recipe – For 10 Spiders:
500g Toast (20 slices)
120g store-bought spread
60 pcs pretzel sticks
20 pcs black olives (or: some tomato paste)
Guacamole
2 Avocados
½ bell pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
¼ tsp salt
For the guacamole remove the avocado stone, and cut the avocado into small pieces. In a bowl mix the avocado pieces with olive oil and salt. Smash the avocado with a fork and mix everything well.
Wash the bell peppers and cut them into really small pieces and mix them with the smashed avocado.
For the spiders, toast the toast. Use a toaster or toast the slices in the oven.
With a glass, or a round-shaped cookie cutter cut out the body of the spiders. One disc per slice.
Spread 10 pieces with your spread(s). Now you can add the spiders’ legs, ähm well you know, the pretzel sticks 😉 . Then put the other toast bodies on top.
Cut the olives into slices and put them as eyes on top. If you choose to use tomato paste, put 2 dabs on top of every spider.
Ready for the party!
